West Lothian Council has a potential £73million budget gap over the next 5 years and is looking to reduce services it is not legally required to provide.

Unfortunately this includes the L1 town service and the 31 Bathgate to Livingston service.

In the Transforming Your Council proposals (item 7d) the Council is considering “the removal of subsidies for bus routes that are not commercially available or viable”.

This will lead to the closure of these services.

Not a worry if you drive but consider those that use the L1 and the 31 because they don’t drive. How do these people get to the doctor’s surgery, to the library, to the shops, to St John’s hospital?

It is vital that these services are maintained!

It is important everyone sends their views by responding to the “Transforming Your Council” consultation.

We did a great job sending emails to our Councillors protesting about the possible closure of the Recycling Centre, over 900 emails were received by each Councillor.

The Councillors have yet to vote through these proposals so let them know your view on whether or not we should keep our local bus service by using the form below.
